From A Clear Blue Sky

Ladiya lay on her stomach, keeping a drowsy eye on the street outside her narrow alley. The area around the Suncut Bazaar could never truly be silent, even at night, but the heat of midday managed to subdue the hubbub and bustle somewhat. Shouts of merchants selling their wares were few, and almost languid in nature. People in the street tended to meander instead of stride. Even the patrols of the Hand of Ord, in their brilliant sapphire and brass regalia, passed by her at a pace which could only be called sedate.

She would be safe here for quite a while, tucked into the tiny shadow provided by a stack of crates. It had just enough shade to be baking instead of broiling; not to mention a perfect view of her target. With a sigh of contentment, Ladi rested her head on her folded arms and settled in to wait. Reading Journal 2/16

And now back to our regularly scheduled Reading Journal! ^-^ Every month I get up to a bit of book rambling; with some basic information on 4 – 5 books I’ve read over the last year, as well as a quick-and-simple review for each one. This month is ALL books that I really liked. I read them when I first made my way up to Seattle, in August/September last year, and I think they helped me settle in. ^-^

Monthly Reading Journal 12/15

Welcome again to another Reading Journal! ^-^ Every month I get up to a bit of book rambling; with some basic information on 4 – 5 books I’ve read this year, as well as a quick-and-simple review for each one.

This month’s set includes one of my favorite reads from this year, and also a genre outside of the fantasy/sci-fi family… which is rare for me. ^-^

Monthly Reading Journal 10/15

Welcome again to another Reading Journal! ^-^ Every month I get up to a bit of book rambling; with some basic information on 4 – 5 books I’ve read this year, as well as a quick-and-simple review for each one. Post length varies, but I definitely guarantee that this month’s will not be nearly as long as last month’s Light Novel special. 😉

So, jumping right on in… Continue reading

Reading Journal Special: Light Novels (part 2)

After I decided to separate this special into two parts, I have to admit that I felt a little anxious. I still feel so new to blogging, and I’m always worried about doing the wrong thing with my format and topics. After writing working on this second post though, I feel better about the decision. It has allowed me to spend a bit more time on a series that is one of my favorites, and certainly well deserving of a little more attention. Continue reading

Reading Journal Special: Light Novels (part 1)

It’s time, once again, for the Monthly Reading Journal! I was looking at my list and realized that over half of the books in this set of five were Light Novels. Furthermore, two of them were actually the third and fourth books in a series which I had started reading last year, before I got my Reading Journal. A special covering all of them seemed the best thing to do. I even threw in one that I read a couple of years ago. It actually turned out rather long, so I decided to split it up a bit. ^-^

Before I go into actually talking about my books, I should probably say a bit about what a Light Novel actually is? Continue reading

Quick Update and Monthly Reading Journal 8/15

I want to have Monthly Reading Journals posted on the first Monday of each month. However, Lucas finally got a place to stay in Portland for August, so all of last week was spent organizing, packing, getting in last minute visits with family, and just being together before he left. That has pushed my writing schedule out a little bit. ^-^

I’m really excited that he was finally able to go up! I am working hard at apartment hunting, and getting the rest of our things packed and ready to go; but it’s possible that I won’t get to see him for a whole month or more… and I miss him a ton already. 😦

Writing this Monthly Reading Journal however, has been a good distraction. The end of February/beginning of March is when I originally read this set, and it’s so fun to look back at my notes about how much I liked most of them. ^-^ Even better, a couple of these five are the first in a series; which means even more good times somewhere down the line.
